Cable tends to take a sizable chunk of your monthly budget - anywhere from $50-$200. And let's face it, as much as we all tend to thing so, cable television is not a necessity. But there are ways to catch your favorite episodes - and a few movies - without paying for cable. All you need to have is an internet connection.Network Websites - Many networks have episodes available to watch for free on their website. Here are a few to get you started:
NBC
ABC
FOX
Hulu - Watch thousands of TV episodes and movies for free. You can browse genres and search for specific titles with this user-friendly site.
Joost.com - This site has movies, TV shows, and music. It's searchable and user-friendly.
Tv.com - This site is owned by CBS. Watch the latest (and the oldest) episodes of your favorite shows. This site boasts over 20,000 different TV shows, and includes clips, articles, and other extras.
Veoh.com - TV shows, movies, and independent productions, all in one place.
Amazon - Watch special features, clips, and a few tv episodes for free.
Netflix - If you have a bit of money to spend, but can't quite afford cable, check out Netflix. For $10 a month, you can get unlimited 1-at-a-time movies delivered to your home, and you also have access to thousands of movies and TV episodes through the "watch instantly" feature, which streams through your internet connection.

Great post!
We've not had tv/cable for nearly three years, and have survived alright...we've even taken the tv and equipment out to the garage for quite a few months...we're more productive that way.
Nonetheless, I still watch my shows online! :)
I have been thinking about ditching my expensive cable bill for a few months now. This was just the inspiration I need to push me closer to making the phone call! Thanks! It's going to save me $50/month. I think we will survive just fine.
Awesome post! We actually got rid of cable at the beginning of the year and I'm glad we did. We aren't missing anything important!
Great post. I have been thinking of cutting off the cable. Because times are real tough. Thanks for the information. I will check it out.
